Week 2, Thursday: Haunted House (Curfew)

[i don't have a stupid group memshare yet i'll look for one later but she's here! and she's sitting somewhere, mostly keeping to herself and observing the group to make sure everyone's doing okay, but eventually:]

...so, um, a little random. But has anybody had any weird dreams lately?

[sootprints]

Weird dreams... like what kind?

[residentflorist]

It didn't really feel like a bad one. Just...strange. [she seems to be trying to recall it.]

I was in a field of flowers, but inside a building in the village at the same time. Half of the building was missing, and the cliff below showed a forest. The sun was out in the sky, but the stars were, too. It was...relaxing, I think. Nothing felt wrong.

But eventually something came out of the flowers. A dog. It was big and it was fluffy but red...even though it used to be white. Petting it made my hands red, too. But it seemed happy? Very friendly. And a cat appeared after that with the same dye in its fur, but it was kind of a yellow-orange. It wasn't as colored as the dog, more like little splotches. It climbed into my lap and stayed there...it kind of felt familiar, but I'm not sure.

That was it, really. Everything was peaceful after that, like they were there just to be with me. And nothing was different when I woke up.

When'd you have this dream?

The other night. The one before last.

[residentmerc]

[ the pouty hypocritical why didn't you tell me face but he has the decency to not say it ]

Haven't had any dreams like that. [ ... ] Why a cat and a dog?

[ our party members??? ]

[residentflorist]

[because you worry too much.]

Dunno. It didn't feel like it was meant to be Red because I don't think he'd ever lick my face. [a little joke. but she does reach up to kind of fiddle with his hair a little.] ...the cat had a little bit of its fur sticking up though. Right here. [at the forehead.]

He might, if he was hungry enough and you had meat on it.

[ and then get extremely embarrassed about it. ha ha. she fiddles with his hair and he just :| ]

...You think it was me? Aren't the bird comparisons bad enough?

So it doesn't sound like it was a bad dream, at least...

[residentflorist]

Mm-mm. [shaking her head.] It felt like the two of them were there to keep me company. Or at least keep me in the field. That's what's so strange about it.

Red dye would normally seem ominous, I would think... but it was peaceful?

[residentflorist]

Yeah. It's like...I wanted to know, but when I thought about it too hard, I didn't. It was better not to know. [there's a nod though.] Everything felt peaceful and safe.

[Hunh... weird...]

Were you depressed over Pickles or something? [He could've said this a different way]

[residentflorist]

[kanda...]

I think we're all a little sad because it shouldn't have happened, but I don't think that's quite right either. But it was the night after that rule went up?

[Look it was his attempt at being helpful

But also he used up his single braincell and they haven't killed any cats (yet) so he shrugs]

No idea, then.

[you tried your best.]

It's okay. I'm sure it doesn't really mean anything, but...it stood up. So I thought I'd ask.

[since a third of the damn game is here.]

Haven't had any dreams either.

[but he looks curious about this]

I think it's worth mentioning though, 'specially in this place.

Do you miss some of the people we've lost?

[ trying to be delicate with his phrasing here. ]

A fluffy red and white dog makes me think of Pickles mashed with Boothill. You were in a peaceful, safe place, so maybe that's your dream for them...?

I miss all of them, don't you? Nobody deserves what happened to them. [that's not entirely what caelus meant, probably, but it's true.]

Could be though. [...] It felt like they were there to reassure me. So maybe it is a sign that they're really okay wherever they are.

[ of course he does. so why no dream...?? does he not actually miss them as much as he thinks??? ]

It's a nice thought.

We just have to keep thinking that, right? They may not be here, but they're still safe somehow.

No fair! I want a cute dream about being friends with a cat and a dog!

Maybe you'll get one another day. I don't think I did anything special for it.

Probably for the best. Less to worry about, right? [at least they aren't bad dreams, she means.]
