Mm. I figured it was a good vantage point. [Large, with lots of dark corners... he didn't mean to get stuck at the ice rink last week but this week was an intentional choice] I have no idea about the music, though... Jonas said it might turn out to be relevant, so it's something to keep in mind, but without seeing everything else, it's not all that useful.
Mm. [...Reaches down and ruffles her hair gently, careful not to mess up any accessories she might be wearing.] Listen--I won't ask you to promise, because I know it's something that's very difficult to control. But try not to blame yourself if we don't figure everything out tomorrow, okay?
[He winces slightly, because he hadn't meant to imply that so clearly, but...
Well. Firstly--] Honestly, I don't know. We never had this many deaths to deal with at once, in hell. I wouldn't say we have no chance at all. [Who knows, maybe they'll lock in super hard!!! Or maybe they'll find one of the victims in a freezer and it turns out they're actually alive and we make them do a weapon check against their own injuries,,,
He doesn't say that, though. As much as he'd love to backtrack and lean into optimism, it would feel too much like patronizing her, so he opts for honesty.] But with three of them in the same place, and how long it took to narrow things down last week... I'm just not sure we'll have the time to investigate all four thoroughly. And... it's important to you, isn't it? Helping to figure things out.
[He's seen her working hard in trial, after all--much harder than he himself ever does, certainly.]
I just--don't want you to feel like you have to shoulder that burden.
You're right... maybe it is important to me. I don't even know that we have to catch them this time, and still... It's just what I always do. Even back home.
[ solving mysteries. even when the answer is painful. ]
...Searching for the truth isn't a bad thing. Especially if you lose someone close to you, even temporarily. It's natural to want to know who hurt them. Who took them away from you. When you try so hard, you help bring comfort to the people who are looking for those answers.
[Childe's fully aware his own perspective is warped; he's used to being judged for that. And sure, he might judge some people in return, the ones reacting with such intense anger and pain over temporary separations--but that's different, to him.]
But it shouldn't feel like failure if we don't have enough time to find everything, or to convince everyone to cooperate, or... [Flicks his hand vaguely to indicate the countless other problems they might run into.] You know. Okay? Work hard if it feels right to you, just--give yourself room to breathe, too.
[He smiles a little, then, a touch sheepishly.] I think Vi will come back to life just to strangle me if I let you work yourself to the bone.
Week 2, Friday
It was a lot easier when we could look around earlier...

We heard some soft music when we woke up, but that was all, unfortunately. Nothing all that useful.

We already knew the aquarium would be involved, but I wonder what the music could be...

Do you think that we won't?

... I understand.
[ a delay, and she tilts her head. she exhales in a small, barely-audible huff. ]
I wouldn't want to make Vi angry.

[There's just so little he can do for her here, so... comfort and encouragement it is.]
