If there's an item you find worth the bloodshed, now is the best chance you'll get, when it's all but guaranteed that lives won't be lost forever and that loss will help propel us to that very end.
[As for the question:] If someone has their sights set on it but would hesitate this long to spill one person's blood - and temporarily at that - for the sake of bringing peace to countless others, then they don't deserve such a simple fix.
[ harsh. but it's an answer that says much about his perspective. the value of having true convictions, of not hesitating. ]
I wonder what it means to have "peace." I think there are ways that even peace can be scary, in itself. But maybe it's different, if you come from a world full of conflict...
It is. [Harsh, but he truly (vine voice) doesn't hesitate.] And I would imagine so. Strife takes many forms. Peace would take just as many, I'm sure. No world is ever truly without any trouble at all, but to avoid the most catastrophic calamities or put an end to great scales of destruction would surely be a sore temptation.
[But then, looping back around a bit:] Do you have your eye on something?
Set aside notions of greed for a moment. Miracles only come around once in a lifetime, so if you're granted the even larger miracle of a second one, there's nothing wrong with reaching out to grab it.
[He is perhaps faintly amused by this little tiny laugh.]
A little encouragement isn't a bad thing now and then. [BUT, with a little wave of his hand:]
I'll speak to you plainly. I'm well aware of my terrible personality, and to be frank, I have no particular attachment to "life" in a place like this. When the options are waiting for someone you hate to push you into a tank of piranhas or being sent through the garbage by a possessed cowboy, or dying at the hands of someone sensible and at least willing to consider the true stakes, who may well get something decent out of it, is the choice not obvious?
Anyway, I really wasn't thinking about taking one... [ but now she kind of is. ] I was just concerned about what other people might be using them for. I don't know if I could really just kill someone.
[ without the backing of a bloodthirsty monster living in her brain, that is ]
[KATE YOUR BLOODTHIRSTY MONSTER SERIAL KILLER ARC.....]
Well, the offer is open if you change your mind. Given death isn't a permanent state of existence here, it's hardly killing, anyway. [Said so breezily like it truly just ain't no thang to tell a soot child "yeah sure go ahead and kill me for a murder trinket".]
We'll have to see what goes missing come tomorrow, I suppose. There are certainly some items that could fall into very terrible hands here.
[ she looks away, and gives a small nod. the offer is acknowledged. ]
... Yes. There was one that allows you to alter memories, or to control someone, or... I'm not sure what "becoming a god" would actually entail, but...
[The one to become a god. HE WORKED SO HARD FOR GODHOOD? EVERYONE ELSE SHOULD TOO??]
But yes, a troubling few are up there. Though I guess as long as it's not something that can be used here, it's not really our problem whose hands they end up in.

I don't need any. If I had to pick one, though... maybe that creature that promises peace. Why do you ask?
no subject
... You would choose peace?
[ a little surprised. ]

... I was already granted a wish in my last "game." I'm not greedy enough to think that I ought to have another one.

For something as grandiose as full and total world peace, at least. Depending on the reason behind the hesitation, exceptions could be made.

How generous of you. It almost sounds like you're trying to encourage me.

Not a bad deal, right?
