[ todomatsu might see a (familiar-looking?) pillar of smoke rising from behind some of the chairs. ]

[ ...? goes over to those chairs to take a look behind them. ]

Kate-chan...?

w0, wednesday

[drymonster]

[ sometime after the party todomatsu will be sitting down somewhere drinking a bottle of water and trying to look less drunk than he is. ]

Hey. Did you have a good time?

Yes. It's nice to get to know everyone a little better.

[ even though she dipped out for a bit and didn't actually partake in the food or drinks... ]

Week 0, Friday

[sootprints]

[ it's easy to find kate on a day like this; the little smoke plume coming from her head can be seen from across the building.

she's at the flight deck early in the day, watching the plane take off while smoke rises from her head. or, if totty's not quite that early, she'll probably linger for some time, looking out into the distance. ]

[drymonster]

[ yeah, he's not that early, but he'll come by eventually (and grab a latte from the coffee stall up here on the way). ]

[ well he cannot get into her lounge so. texts. ]



i really didn't see that coming... are you ok?

[sootprints]

I'm okay yes
But I really can't believe this happened again

Week 1, Monday

[sootprints]

[ our scawwy class reunion...... she's in the village, looking at the familiar sights. ]

I never thought we'd come back here...

[drymonster]

Yeah, me neither.

[ and now it's like a lot of memories he hasn't thought about in a long time are all rushing back and he's not sure how to deal with that. ]

It feels weird, doesn't it?

w1, thursday

[drymonster]

[ i can't believe she caught his w1 cyoa disease...

anyway WHEREVER SHE IS he'll come check on her and bring some tea... ]

Kate-chan...? How are you feeling?

[sootprints]

[ she's on a bed in the first aid centre! it looks like she's changed into something loose and cozy.

it's hard to tell if she's awake or not, since you can't see her eyes... but she turns her head at the sound of his voice. ]

Todomatsu...? I'm sorry to worry you.

Week 1, Friday

[sootprints]

[ kate's just on one of the couches in the relaxation area. she's wearing a hoodie and a skirt, and while it's hard to tell what the state of her injuries is, it looks like her left leg is bandaged.

it looks like she hasn't moved around much today; she has a half-empty glass of water and a book at her side, as well as her phone close at hand. there's a steady stream of smoke that rises from her head. she lifts her head when she sees todomatsu, but doesn't say anything right away. ]

[drymonster]

[ well, he definitely can't blame her for being in a bad mood.

sits down next to her. ]

...Sucks when you go through something like that with someone and they're gone the next morning, right?

w1, sunday

[drymonster]

[ he's just kind of wandering around after checking the flight gate to make sure there aren't any last minute scawwy flights. as much as he'd thought he'd never want to see the place again, it had ended up being a little bittersweet visiting now with all of that game's events behind them. he wouldn't have hated looking at it one last time.

ah, well.

kate gets a smile and a little wave when he sees her. ]

You get a chance to heal up some more?

[sootprints]

[ honestly, kate's probably passing by here for the same reason.

she turns her head when he greets her... then pats a spot on her right side with her hand. ]

It seems like it's completely better now. It doesn't hurt at all.

Week 2, Monday

[sootprints]

[ kate's out at the shopping mall... looking at the clothing displayed on some mannequins at a storefront. she sees totty in the corner of her eye (but feel free to be like psych, it's an au-totty) ]

It's such a relief that we can come back to these any time...

[ unlike in scawwy when their clothing store got taken away... the tragedy. ]

[drymonster]

[ comes over to join her! ]

Isn't it? I was still half expecting access to this place to be shut off when we woke up this morning. Stocked up on as many basics as I could last night just in case.

[ AFTER LOSING THE CLOTHES SHOP ON ANIMAL CROSSING ISLAND HE WILL NEVER MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AGAIN ]

Week 2, Thursday

[sootprints]

[ after totty's had a chance to clean up or whatever else, kate's coming to look for him! where's he at. how's he looking. ]

[drymonster]

[ not terrible? he's cleaned up in a dress shirt and jeans. there's obviously a bandage wrapped around his upper arm under one sleeve and his palms are a little cut up and irritated but there's nothing visibly wrong otherwise. still looks uncomfortable when he moves, so maybe there are things that aren't visible, but it's fine!

anyway he's sipping a margarita somewhere. ]

w2, friday

[ texting her this image ]

so yeah, 99% sure this is a hidden camera reality show situation

[sootprints]

So it really is a show...
I wonder why they bothered with the deception.

w2, saturday

[drymonster]

[ welp. he is drinking a latte up on the flight deck after trial. ]

[sootprints]

[ she'll come over and sit near him with a to-go cup of tea. ]

... I'm not sure what we accomplished today...

w2, sunday

[drymonster]

[ he is just walking the hiking trail or something, but will stop when kate shows up. he turns toward her with sort of an anxious half-smile. ]

...Hey.

[sootprints]

[ kate looks back to him...

then steps forward to give him a hug. ]

Week 3, Monday

[sootprints]

[ okay well first of all, totty gets to see a memory of kate going on a lovely little movie date with a very sweet boy who went out of his way to make ice cream by hand, just so she could try it for the first time. ]

[drymonster]

[ what the fuck, if this little shit had ever been sweet like this to him maybe he wouldn't have taken so much joy in his brutal murder. ]




That was nice.......

Week 3, Friday

[sootprints]

[ on friday, kate can be seen around terminal 3. there's soot on her clothes, but she looks mostly composed. ]

... We're going to have a lot of work to do...

[drymonster]

[ meanwhile he seems a little more legitimately unhappy than he has on past fridays. it's fine. ]

Seems like it. Hopefully we'll do better than we did last week.

[ even though that worked out nicely for him personally... ]

w4, monday

[drymonster]

[ pausing at the entrance of treeclimbers ltd like ??? ]

...Who is this for?

[sootprints]

[ also looking in here like ??? ]

Maybe South can wear it...?

Everything really is still happening just like it was before.

[ what did that fucking horse even accomplish!! ]

[sootprints]

[ she's looking sooty today. unsurprisingly. ]

That's right... if those "auditors" are gone, then... is everything here just running by itself?

w5, monday

[drymonster]

[ off in the fucking italy train car in heaven at some point, radiating anxiety and frustration. when he spots kate there's a little blip of ?!! followed by a tangle of fondness and guilt. ]

...Wow, I really didn't think I was going to run into anyone here.

[sootprints]

[ (emotionally) shakes his hand because she is also very anxious right now. ]

You were hoping not to see anyone?

Week 5, Friday

[sootprints]

[ in one of the terminals, looking up at one of the screens showing this week's departed...

there are a lot of complicated emotions. when she looks over and sees todomatsu, there's some relief mixed in with all of it. ]

... I'm not sure what to think... but it's probably good that we gained more than one person this week...

[ because we just lost four. ]

[drymonster]

[ yeah... his own emotions are kind of dull like they usually have been whenever he hasn't been in the middle of a personal crisis — which actually maybe hasn't been that often this week — but there's definitely sadness there along with a warring frustration and resignation. ]

Maybe. I kind of wonder if whittling us down to a specific number at the end like in the village isn't going to be one of the things they want. I hope it isn't.

Week 5, Saturday

[sootprints]

[ coming into the security room like a lil stormcloud of frustration is... kate! hi. ]

Why did it end up like that...

[ how's totty looking. ]

[drymonster]

[ he looks okay, honestly, though the vibes are not great.

sighs. ]

Well, it's not like I didn't know it might. Kind of thought it'd happen earlier.

[ ... ]

But I also thought that if it did happen, it would be when it wasn't pretty clear who one of the actual killers was, so...... not crazy about that part.

w7, monday

[drymonster]

[ just out looking at all the options of places they can go now that his hangover has been defibbed away... ]

Did I miss anything good with the new terminal from last week? It kind of didn't sound like it from everything that was coming up during the trial.

There's a store full of gadgets that I thought was really interesting...

[ until someone turned the roombas into murder-robots... ]

Week 7, Saturday

[sootprints]

[ she's at the flight deck, gazing out at the runway... but she'll turn to look at todomatsu. ]

So it's over...

... It was nice, getting to see you again.

[drymonster]

Yeah, you too.

[ smiles and pats her shoulder. ]

...You'd be totally justified in not wanting anything to do with my world at this point, but if you ever want to come over, just let me know.

[ with advance notice so he can try to make things seem presentable... ]
